Debbie has a wonderful story:
“My involvement with special needs began in the first grade. I went to a VERY small country school where 1, 2 & 3 grades were all in the same class with one teacher…14 children total, including one retarded child. School came easy to me, so when I finished my work, I helped this child…for 3 yrs. When I was a sophomore in HS, I began volunteering with the Red Cross teaching swimming in a special needs school. This is when The Lord called me to be a PT to work w special needs children. I continued to seek out opportunities to volunteer because it became my passion. In college, I found a residential facility to serve and a cerebral palsy child in the school in the town of 10,000. There were no services for a special needs child back then, and he walked with canes and never went out to recess or PE. I received permission from his parents to work with him. Ihad no clue what I was doing, so I just used common sense. I arranged my schedule so that I could take him to PE and recess, which necessitated developing our own exercise program.   I have maintained contact with that young man over the years.

My job with the school district is to help special needs children access their education. This includes (but certainly is not limited to) providing positioning techniques & equipment, teaching mobility via canes, wheelchair or independent means, and assisting with job skill training….whatever is necessary for them to benefit from their education. I work directly with children, as well as provide training to parents, teachers and staff. I also serve as the adaptive PE consultant.

In 1983, I developed the first Special Olympics program for the Grapevine-Colleyville, Carroll and Coppell school districts and ran the programs as a volunteer for 10 years, until my sister was diagnosed with brain cancer and I needed to take care of her and her 3 children. Fortunately those programs have continued to be an integral part of the lives of the special needs children in the area.”

Earl Little

Administration & Emcee

Th. M.
M.R.E. (Residence)

I am excited to be a part of my daughter, Stefani’s school and training program. My whole life has been centered on education, music and special needs. My parents, Tad and Mimi (Zada) Little, were teaching in two-room wooden country schools when I was born. Mom taught the 1st-4th and dad taught the 6th-8th.

My parents had me take 8 years on the piano which led to other musical talents involving being awarded 17 First Place UIL medals also being Texas All State Trumpet in my Sophomore and Junior years, and All State Tenor my Senior year. In a small university I was in band, orchestra and acapella choir. I taught trumpet in the university and was music director at a small elementary school.

Moving to Dallas in 1971, I began a church school in the church I pastored. Stefani began to sing when she was 2. I also started a church bus ministry, which reached into the underserved areas of DFW. Our bus attendance peaked out averaging 1,000 each Sunday. Our largest church Christmas party for the poor saw 2,500 kids attend-we gave each one 4 small gifts and a bag of fruit.

I currently serve on the board of Texas largest (33 schools) provider of charter public schools for credit recovery/at risk students.

My wife (married Aug 4, 1961) Carolyn’s parents began and operated one of the largest rescue missions in the country.

It has been a delight for two decades to work with Stefani. Her husband, Jeff, has been the key to recent expansion.

No doubt all the programs Stefani loves doing is in her DNA.
